The Council's response to Metro Shopping Fund putting their land holdings at Notting Hill Gate up for sale

Metro Shopping Fund have recently put their landholdings in the Notting Hill Gate District Centre up for sale.

Over the past few years the Council has worked closely with all interested stakeholders, including the current landowners, to prepare a vision for the district centre. This vision will guide new development to significantly strengthen the retail offer for local people and significantly improve the pedestrian environment. The centre will continue to be a major office location and have an improved arts and cultural offer. Exceptional architectural and design quality will create a distinctive identity for the centre.

Future development must be in accordance with the Council’s planning policy, which is predominately set out in the Core Strategy, March 2010.  Chapter 16 of the Core Strategy is particularly important, as this sets out the detailed vision for Notting Hill Gate.

In preparing this vision, the Council also commissioned Urban Initiatives to prepare a district centre framework. This framework includes a vision and implementation plan putting forward several options for the regeneration of the centre. This framework is available to download here.  This framework has not been adopted as Council policy, but used as evidence in support of the Core Strategy, March 2010.

The Council is committed to working closely with all stakeholders, including the new landowners, to ensure that future development contributes to achieving the long term vision for the centre as set out in the Core Strategy.
