Transport arrangements in place for Chelsea Flower Show
10 May 2005
Green-fingured visitors to the Chelsea Flower Show are to benefit from special travel arrangements.
The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) will be providing a free shuttle bus service to the festival from Victoria Station (on presentation of a flower show ticket). The service will run at frequent intervals between 7.30am and 6.30pm from Hudson's Place, by platform one, direct to the Chelsea Flower Show at the Royal Hospital.
This year's Chelsea Flower Show will run from 24 to 28 May 2005 and is organised by the RHS.
In addition, there will be a free rail replacement bus service run by London Underground from Victoria Station for those customers with a valid underground ticket. This service will run every ten minutes from 7.50am until 3.50pm, and then every six minutes until 6.50pm, from bus stop G in Victoria Street direct to Sloane Square tube station.
Cllr Mrs Frances Taylor, Chairman of the Public Transport and Road Safety Advisory Group, said: "I am delighted that these additional transport arrangements have been organised. The Chelsea Flower Show attracts thousands of people to London every year. Many of these people are not familiar with the Capital and these arrangements will help to make their visit more enjoyable."
The last bus services to leave for Victoria Station from both the Chelsea Flower Show and Sloane Square tube station are at 7pm.
Along with the dedicated free bus service, there will also be a special bus service, operated by London General, between Victoria Station and the Chelsea Flower Show from 7am until 8pm each day (6pm on final day).
Buses operate at frequent intervals from Victoria Station (Hudson's Place), returning from outside the showground at the Hospital Gate in Chelsea Bridge Road. The cost of the London General bus will be £1.50 for a single journey and £2.60 return. Children, senior citizens and holders of valid travelcards can buy £1.20 single tickets and £2 return tickets.
