Wear your favourite local landmark on your lapel

17 September 2009

Royal Borough residents are invited to vote for their favourite local landmark to be featured on an official London 2012 merchandised pin badge set called `Landmark London'. Pin badges are a popular part of the heritage of the Olympic and Paralympic Movement with each Organising Committee producing a range of these collectors items that appeal to different people. Councillor Merrick Cockell, Leader of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, said: "Kensington and Chelsea is home to so many iconic landmarks that narrowing it down to just four was a difficult task. It is now up to residents to select which of these should feature on a special collectors London 2012 pin badge, something that will be a lasting reminder of the Royal Borough's support for the Games. I am looking forward to seeing which one our residents plump for." The Royal Borough's four iconic landmarks to pick from are Albert Bridge; Kensington Palace; the Natural History Museum; and the Parabola (formerly known as the Commonwealth Institute). To make your choice visit www.london2012.com/landmark Voting closes at midnight on Sunday 18 October 2009. The competition is organised by London 2012, as part of its plans to create 2,012 individual pins to showcase the best of life in London and the UK. The `Landmark London' set will comprise 33 individual pins to commemorate a landmark from each London borough and will go on sale next year.
