Pavement Tables and Chairs

07 August 2012

Residents across the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea are now able to check if businesses have permission to place tables and chairs on pavements thanks to the launch of a new online register.

The register will allow residents to find out if a business is creating a pavement nuisance by placing too much furniture outside their premises. If they find this is the case they can report the matter to the Council.

Councillor Nick Paget-Brown, Deputy Leader of the Council, said: "Many people enjoy the al fresco drinking and dining on offer in the borough, and the Council wants to see this continue. What we don't want is our pavements becoming an obstacle course. If residents and visitors feel this is the case they can now check the register and alert the Council if a business is going beyond its limit or leaving furniture out longer than it should."

This project was initiated by residents and Councillors from Brompton ward as part of the `City Living, Local Life' programme.
