St Luke's Gardens Transformation

02 July 2012

Over £2 million of improvement works on St Luke's Gardens has now been completed. The Gardens have a new playground and new Astroturf pitch. There is a `Teen area' which has climbing boulders and the park has a new amenity building. Access has been improved to allow anyone into all parts of the park and general landscape of the Gardens has been refreshed.

There has also been work to conserver the listed perimeter wall and new, ornamental railings and gates have been installed.

Councillor Nick Paget-Brown, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure, said: "I am pleased that the works at St Luke's Gardens are now completed. The gardens with their new railings and planting now provide a handsome setting for St Luke's church for the first time in many decades. We have a long-term policy of upgrading all the Borough's parks to keep pace with the aspirations of local residents.

"I'm sure that all the regular users of the gardens will enjoy the improvements and am delighted that the Council has been able to undertake this major upgrade to such an important green space in the heart of Chelsea."
