Big dance in the Royal Borough on Friday 13 July

10 July 2012

As part of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea's InTRANSIT Festival,
Big Dance will be turning World's End Place, on the King's Road, into an energetic dance space. At 4.30pm, the quirky Big Dance Bus will pull up and roll out the ultimate dance floor, providing a unique space for some of London's best dance groups to showcase their work.

Come and experience spectacular performances from professional dancers and local groups and join in the dance workshops for free! This special celebration of world dance is an experience not to be missed.

Or why not make the short trip to the beautiful Duke of York Square (near Sloane Square) for our Big Dance Pop-Up Screen: Shall We Dance? event, where you can revel in an evening of glitz and glamour inspired by the golden age of the Hollywood musical, the iconic pairing of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, and the sublime music of George Gershwin?

From 7pm, watch performances from all-American dance group `Tabor', and marvel at extracts from English National Ballet's highly-acclaimed Strictly Gershwin. There's the chance to join in, too - Benny Maslov will be leading a ballroom workshop with his all of his usual flair, and Theatre Workout will be providing a specially-prepared workshop based on the latest West End hit, Top Hat. Then, as the sun sets over the Square, settle down for a screening of the 1937 film Shall We Dance? on our enormous outdoor cinema screen. You'll be dancing the whole way home!

Booking for the Big Dance Pop-Up Screen: Shall We Dance? event is free and can be done at www.thelunacinema.com/shallwedance
