New Middle Row Primary School clears the last hurdle

07 December 2012

Planning permission was secured last night (Thursday 6 December) for a new Middle Row Primary School at a meeting of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea's Planning Committee.

The decision means that work can now begin on a modern school on the site of the old nursery building. Opening in September 2014, the new school will increase capacity from 256 to 450, helping with the growing demand for places in the borough and provide a specialist centre for up to 16 pupils with severe speech and language difficulties.

Welcoming the decision Councillor Elizabeth Campbell, Cabinet Member for Education, said: "I'm delighted that planning permission has been given for this much needed redevelopment of Middle Row Primary School. The buildings that the school has been using are no longer able to meet the demands of modern teaching and I am sure the children and staff will enjoy the new facilities they will have in 18 months time."
