The Council wants to assess the impact of Congestion Charging Zone

The Mayor of London proposes extending the Congestion Charging Scheme (CCS)  if re-elected. The Council believes an extension of the CCS is premature.

This Council argues that more time and evidence is needed, before the Mayor of London takes any decision about expanding the Congestion Charging Scheme.

At the start of February, results of a borough-wide survey published by the Council revealed just 2.5 per cent of respondents supported the Mayor of London’s detailed proposal to extend congestion charging into the borough.

When the western extension was introduced, we worked extremely hard to secure a 90 per cent discount for all borough residents – even if they didn't live within the zone. For them the daily charge is currently 80p, instead of £8, a day.

During the 10-week public consultation on extending the congestion charge into parts of Kensington and Chelsea, 133 residents emailed the Council with their views.
