Transport for London consult on £8-a-day congestion charge
Transport for London (TfL) are currently consulting on whether to increase
the congestion charge to £8-a-day. While Kensington and Chelsea currently lies
outside the zone, anyone driving into central London will be looking at a price
hike of 60 per cent. So what do you think of the proposal to increase the
charge. What else is proposed? And have you told TfL?
The consultation headlines
Transport for London's latest consultation began in December and is due to
end on 28 February. The changes proposed include a number of administrative
modifications to the way company fleet vehicles pay the charge. However the most
contentious proposal under consultation is:
To raise the charge from £5 per charging day to £8 per charging day.
Beneath that headline, longer discount period charges are also proposed as follows:
- 20 days (monthly charge) for the price of 17 days (3 days uncharged)
- 252 days (annual charge) for the price of 212 (40 days uncharged)
