A different type of card

Kensington and Chelsea Council has a track record of developing innovative ways to support residents and local businesses and encourage a thriving local economy.
Now the Council is set to take the lead again after announcing plans to back a borough-wide loyalty card scheme that can be used in small and independently-owned shops in Kensington and Chelsea.

The Council is committed to supporting the regeneration of north Kensington by providing better housing and improved facilities, such as a new school and improved transport links. A previous issue of RBKC Direct looked at the case for a new school in area. In this issue we look at the Council’s vision for a Crossrail Station at Kensal that would transform the area and unlock the significant development potential of the Kensal Gas Works Sites.

A street scene

Car club cars just three minutes away

Car clubs offer residents an environmentally-friendly and cost-effective alternative to owning a car.  To allow more residents to take advantage of the benefits, the Council in increasing the number of car club bays in the borough from 97 to 200. The move will give every resident a car club parking bay within a three-minute walk of their home.

Focus on FOCUS K&C

Each May, the Mayor of the Royal Borough selects a local charity to support during his or her mayoral year. Many charities have benefited significantly from being the mayoral charity in past years. Until now these have been traditional organisations doing direct charitable work, but this year’s Mayor, Cllr Timothy Coleridge, has chosen one that works very differently: FOCUS K&C.
