My Cremorne

Local history DVD

The Cremorne Residents' Association of Lots Village, with support from City Living, Local Life, has produced an hour long local history DVD, "Cremorne Gardens - the last of the Victorian Pleasure Gardens, 1846 - 1877". Black and white illustration of Cremorne Gardens in Victorian timesCRA Committee Member, Gillian Best, who co-ordinated the project, said "What a rich history! In this small area not only did we once have market gardens serving the West End, and then latterly Lots Road Power Station providing electricity for London Transport, but also the gaudy, spectacular gem known as Cremorne Gardens to which hundreds of thousands of Londoners flocked."

The longer term legacy of this project may develop into a community partnership with the Chelsea Academy where students will be able to continue the work to uncover local history.

Copies of the DVD may be sourced from the Cremorne Residents Association at cremornera@hotmail.co.uk at no cost, though a voluntary donation is requested towards the cost of production.
