Who are they for?

Any young person aged 14 to 19 who lives or attends school/college in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

If you live outside of the borough and would like to join, that’s fine too. Just make sure that you don’t have to make a long journey here, as this may cause personal safety implications.

What are the Volunteer Police Cadets?

Kensington and Chelsea Police are forming a local volunteer police cadet scheme for young people.

What do they do?

Cadets can perform tasks such as the test purchasing of alcohol, fireworks and knives. They also get involved in London-wide deployments, such as Trooping The Colour, Remembrance Day parades and the London Marathon. Tasks can also include local crime prevention initiatives.

The evening programme includes drill/inspection, first aid, sports and guest speakers who will cover inputs on police related topics, such as Armed Response, Traffic, Helicopter Support and much, much more!

How much of my time would I need to give?

The Cadets meet every Thursday evening from 7pm to 9pm.

What will I get out of it?

Cadet units involve themselves in outward bound activities across the country and occasional weekend activities created around competitions and sport.
