Host competitions

The Olympic Games took place from Saturday 28 July to Sunday 12 August, bringing 17,800 athletes and officials to the city, representing 203 countries across 26 sporting competitions. Next up is the Paralympic Games, which begin on 29 August and close on 9 September, with 4,000 athletes and team officials representing 170 countries across 20 sporting competitions.

The Games in to the Royal Borough

The Royal Borough is at the heart of the Games where two Olympic sports competitions took place: volleyball at Earl’s Court and the men’s and women’s Olympic Road Cycling races, with part of the routes along Knightsbridge, Brompton Road and Fulham Road.  For a picture of all events in the borough, see the borough profile map [PDF] (file size 390Kb).

Indoor volleyball

The indoor volleyball competition took place at Earl’s Court from Saturday 28 July to Sunday 12 August.
