Host competitions
The Olympic Games took place from Saturday 28 July to Sunday 12
August, bringing 17,800 athletes and officials to the city,
representing 203 countries across 26 sporting competitions. Next up
is the Paralympic Games, which begin on 29 August and close on 9
September, with 4,000 athletes and team officials representing 170
countries across 20 sporting competitions.
The Games in to the Royal Borough
The Royal Borough is at the heart of the Games
where two Olympic sports competitions took place: volleyball
at Earl’s Court and the men’s and women’s Olympic Road Cycling
races, with part of the routes along Knightsbridge, Brompton Road

Indoor volleyball
The indoor volleyball competition took place at Earl’s
Court from Saturday 28 July to Sunday 12 August.
Road Cycling Races
The Men’s Road Cycling race took place on
Saturday 28 July and the Women’s on Sunday 29 July.
Olympic Route Network and Paralympic Route Network
Some roads in the borough will
be be subject to special traffic measures to ensure
athletes and officials make it to their competition in
time.
