Marvellous Children's Charity

Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s
Charity
Opera Holland Park is proud to be friends with
Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity - the charity set up in
Roald Dahl's name to help very poorly children live fuller, happier
lives.
The Marvellous Charity have been fundraising for a Roald Dahl
specialist children's nurse who is based in Chelsea &
Westminster Hospital. Just like Macmillan Nurses for cancer, Roald
Dahl specialist nurses help children come to terms with their
severe brain or blood conditions, giving care, support and
excellent advice when its needed the most.
Too many parts of the UK just don't have a specialist nurse for
children with severe forms of epilepsy. This spring they
managed to put a nurse, Siobhan Hannan, into
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. She's already made a huge
difference to the hundreds of children in the area with severe
epilepsy.
To the families, she is priceless. She shows parents how to adapt
to having a child with severe epilepsy. Where the child is older,
she shows them how to take care of themselves. She gives plain
advice about how to choose between mystifying treatment options and
she is always there for the family, preventing emergency
re-admissions and keeping babies out of intensive care.
During the 2012 season run of Fantastic Mr
Fox on the Yucca Lawn in Holland Park you helped Opera Holland
Park and the Marvellous Children’s Charity raised
£3,100 for this wonderful cause. Thank you very
much for all of your help and your donations and we all look
forward to seeing you again next year at Holland Park.
