Help Lancaster West go carbon-neutral - Share your views |
Working with residents, Lancaster West Neighbourhood Team have put in place plans to transform Lancaster West into a 21st century model estate. This includes an ambition to reduce carbon emissions on the estate from things like heating, hot water, and electricity to become carbon neutral by 2030. This would mean an overall balance between carbon emissions produced by the estate and carbon that we take back out of the atmosphere. There are lots of things we can do to achieve this, including improving homes to make them more energy-efficient, providing reliable and renewable energy, and improving and creating new green spaces. As well as tackling climate change and pollution, this will help improve the quality and comfort of homes and communal spaces and boost wellbeing. We’re already doing lots of work to help make this happen and are always keen to hear your views. Through this survey we want to hear your thoughts on a range of areas, like climate change, recycling, and energy bills. |
If you require any help with translating or responding to this survey, ask for Hannah Smith, our Sustainability Project Manager at [email protected] or phone her on 07812483504. We have started a Green Group on WhatsApp for anyone interested in these topics to carry on the conversation and share resources, thoughts and ideas. If you would like to join, please contact Hannah via the email and phone number above. If Hannah's not available the wider team will be able to help you: [email protected] or on 0800 389 2005.
This survey will close on 7 February 2021. |

Feeling informed about going carbon-neutral |
When we say carbon-neutral (same as net-zero carbon), we mean that carbon emissions from things like heating, hot water and electricity across the estate should be brought down as close to zero as possible by 2030. We would get emissions to zero on balance by also removing some from the atmosphere through things like creating and improving green spaces. Too much carbon in the atmosphere causes climate change and air pollution. |

Induction cookers are safer and quicker than gas hobs, and can use up to 70% less energy. Currently most of our homes have gas ovens and hobs, but there is an opportunity to replace these with induction hobs through the internal refurb. Which of these statements do you agree with? |

The Lancaster West Neighbourhood Team is required to take account of how our actions affect different groups within our community. We are committed to ensuring all residents have fair access to the services we provide and ultimately that our borough is a safe and welcoming place for all.
To help with this, we collect equalities information on who uses our services and who we come into contact with. We collect this data because we want to fully understand who our residents are and the barriers they may face when accessing our services so we can make sure we do everything we can to remove them.
The more we know about our residents, the more we can tailor our services to meet your needs. |
