Elm Park Gardens as seen from their communal gardens
John Bignell took this photograph of the community gardens attached to Elm Park Gardens for an article on the street in The Times of Chelsea in 1974. The first block is number 32 Elm Park Gardens where the future politician Stafford Cripps was born in 1889. In his youth he was more interested in religion than politics and was an anti-liberal imperialist - both beliefs that would undergo radical change.
