Kensington Town Hall on the High Street, 1905

Kensington Town Hall and the Central Library on Kensington High Street in 1905, a few years after the creation of the Royal Borough of Kensington. The Italianate building was constructed in 1880 to the designs of Robert Walker and was demolished in controversial circumstances in June 1982. In 1960 the Central Library was relocated to a new purpose built building on Phillimore Walk.
