DescriptionReduced size bronze of 'An Athlete Wrestling with a Python'. It perfectly replicates on a smaller scale the powerful figure of a man, wrestling with a snake that has coiled itself around his body. His front and back feet are positioned diagonally upon a simple bronze base. His knees are bent in a bracing position and his left arm is held behind him in an attempt to prise the serpent away from his body, whilst his right holds the neck of the animal away at arms length. The tail of the snake is curled around his right foot and it continues upwards to coil around his left thigh and back. The mouth is open as if ready to strike and the athlete's is bowed in concentration
