Minutes:

Councillor Sof McVeigh, Housing Management, Housing Safety & Building New Homes, introduced the report, which outlined the background to the proposed decision. She highlighted the performance indicators and sought comments on whether these were the most informative and were they presented in the most effective way.

Leadership Team discussed the £700m expenditure programme over ten years to bring the housing stock up to the decent homes standard; the desire to reduce the length of time homes were left empty; the improvements to the way complaints were being handled along with the faster response rate; and what else could be done to improve satisfaction scores above the current 68%. Leadership Team reviewed the different communication channels it employed and how technology could improve the service, for example, by using technology to provide more accurate times when workers would come to a property as well as to prioritise repairs more effectively. Councillors considered the number of housing fraud cases currently under investigation.

The Leadership Team RESOLVED, for the reasons set out in paragraph 3.1 and elsewhere within the report, that the recommendations at paragraphs 2.1 to 2.3:

Leadership Team

(i)     Noted the overall Red-Amber-Green rating position for all performance metrics (in Appendix One to the main report).

(ii)    Noted and consider the contents of this report and make any relevant recommendations following this consideration.

(iii)   Agreed that this report is presented quarterly to the Leadership Team.
