CD and DVD recycling

Why recycle CDs and DVDs?

CDs and DVDs are made up of materials such as polycarbonate (a form of plastic), aluminium and paint, and most have plastic cases. If they're buried in landfill they become lost resources and take a long time to break down.

Where to recycle CDs and DVDs?

The Council doesn't accept CDs or DVDs in recycling bags or mixed recycling banks.

However you can recyle them by:

  • donating them to a charity shop
  • taking them to the CD and DVD bank at the Reuse and Recycling Centre at Smuggler's Way, Wandsworth
  • sending them to Polymer Recycling Ltd, Peninsula Business Park, Reeds Lane, Moreton, Wirral CH46 1DW
