Who is the service for?

EU EEA and Swiss Nationals and family members of EU citizens who do not have a smartphone to access the Home Office ID verification app.

What if I already have permanent residence?

If you have a permanent residence card, you will still need to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme for settled or pre-settled status to enable you to continue living in the UK after 30 June 2021.

I have indefinite leave to remain or enter the UK, do I still need to apply for the scheme?

You will not need to apply to the EU settlement Scheme if you already have indefinite leave to remain or indefinite leave to enter.

I am an Irish citizen; will I still need to use the service?

No, if you are an Irish citizen or hold dual British and Irish citizenship you will not be required to apply to the EU Settlement scheme. Further information is available on the gov.uk website.

I am married to a British citizen; will I still need to apply?

Yes, EU citizens who are married to British citizens will still need to apply for settled or pre-settled status.

How do I apply to the EU Settlement Scheme?

You can apply through the Home Office website. Please visit the gov.uk website for more details.

As part of the ID verification checks you will need to have a smartphone to scan your documents and then continue with the application process online.

However, you must complete the ID verification before starting your online application or you will have to sent your documents to the Home Office.

What do I do if I don’t have a smartphone?

You will need to come to a centre that does ID verification. This service is offered by Kensington and Chelsea Register Office.

Can I still use the service if I have a smartphone?

Yes, you are welcome to use this service but you do not need to if you have a smartphone and can access the Home Office ID verification app.

Do I need to live in Kensington and Chelsea in order to use the service?

No, you do not need to live in Kensington and Chelsea to use the EU Settlement Service.

What is the fee and what does it include?

There is no fee for Kensington and Chelsea residents to use this service. You will need to provide proof of your address at the appointment.

For non-residents of Kensington and Chelsea, the fee for the service if £21. This fee includes verifying your Identity by scanning your passport and/or biometric residence card.

What do I need to bring to the Appointment?

  • EU citizens must bring a valid passport
  • Family members of EU citizens must bring a Biometric Residence Permit
  • Kensington and Chelsea residents must bring proof of address such as a recent bank statement or utility bill, a current council bill or UK driving licence

Do I need to be present at the appointment or can my immigration advisor submit the application for me?

All applicants must attend in person to use the EU Settlement Scheme ID verification service.

What happens during the appointment?

We will take a photo of your document then scan and take a photo of your face.You will receive a text message from the Home Office to verify your mobile number.

What happens after the appointment?

The Home Office will send you a link by email for you complete the online application process after the appointment.

Are you able to help me to complete the application?

No, we will not be able to assist you to complete the application. You will need to follow the link and complete the application after your appointment.
