Youth Inform

Youth Inform: services for young people, designed by young people

A new youth service for the borough launched on 1 September 2019, the result of the largest ever collaboration between young people and Kensington and Chelsea. Youth services are being significantly refocused to ensure they meet local needs and are responsive to changing demands.

The key changes are:

  • young people will have direct control over an annual £40,000 budget.
  • more coordinated work between the Council, police, schools and colleges, health providers and community groups
  • young people supported on the areas they say matter to them, including their wellbeing and feeling safe

The important areas for young people are:

  • futures and ambitions, including career options
  • safety and security
  • community and environment
  • living healthy and happy lives

Read more about these on the Areas of support page.

Wide-ranging consultation

Consultation began in February 2018 with young people at the heart of decision making and service development. The consultation included:

  • 167 workshops and open forums held in youth clubs, sports centres, faith spaces, in parks and on the streets across the borough
  • 1,015 people and organisations, including 771 young people, consulted so far

Information collated by the Council was used to identify the key themes, ideas and suggestions put forward by the community. This was fed back to young people and local residents, offering them an opportunity to add more priorities.
