In-Year Secondary Admissions
An 'In-Year admission' is when you need to make an application to a school outside of the normal admissions round and at a time when your child should already be attending school. Normal admission rounds are for primary reception when starting statutory schooling (those rising four years old) for the first time, and for primary to secondary transfer (those children currently in Year 6).
You would normally be making an in year application if you recently moved, you have arrived from another country or you want to transfer your child to another school. If your child is already in school and you are considering transferring him/her to another school, you will need to be aware that places are already allocated and availability will be limited. This is of particular importance if your child is in Year 6 of primary school or Year 10 or 11 when a move at this stage of their education is highly discouraged and should only be considered if your circumstances are exceptional.

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea work in partnership with Westminster City Council and The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham to co-ordinate applications for schools located in the three boroughs that have agreed to participate in the ‘in-year coordinated’ process.
The Admissions Team holds information on place availability in schools across the three boroughs and will seek to support the families of any child without school provision in ensuring an offer can be made for a school.
