Response to question on Parkinson’s Nurses, raised at Full Council on 23 January 2019
Parkinson’s Nurses
Comments by Virginia Welch
As you explained in your statement, specialist nurses play a vital role in giving expert care to people with Parkinson’s as part of a wider care pathway. They also alleviate some of the challenges faced by family carers. I was disappointed to hear that the Parkinson’s nurse position in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has been vacant for over a year and that residents have been without this support.
Following the Council meeting, Cllr Sarah Addenbrooke sent a letter to the West London CCG urging the NHS to clarify their position and fill this vacancy as soon as possible.
