Adult Social Care and Health Select Committee

What does this select committee do?

The Adult Social Care and Health Select Committee has a remit to scrutinise:

  • adult social care services
  • partnerships associated with adult social care
  • public health 
  • local healthcare services and NHS organisations.

The select committee reviews of topics throughout the municipal year by discussing reports at formal meetings, carrying out in-depth scrutiny at single-issue meetings and setting up working groups. The select committee will seek to gather evidence from the community and to hear from local people, and policy experts.

Current priorities for the select committee

The topics for review for the current municipal year 2021-22 were prioritised by members and formally proposed at the council’s  Overview and Scrutiny Committee. The topics include:

  • public health outcomes
  • safeguarding of vulnerable adults 
  • home care recommissioning.
