Elective Home Education guidance (EHE)

Elective Home Education (EHE)

Parents/carers legally have to ensure their child is in receipt of a suitable education but this does not have to be in a school, some will choose to electively home educate.

If a child has previously been on roll at a school, parents/carers must confirm their intention to EHE in writing to the head teacher of the school. Some guidance is available here for parents/carers who are considering or have decided to EHE and the Local Authority policy in relation to EHE is also available here.

All policies and procedures can be obtained from the Admissions and Access to Education Team and apply to families living in Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster City Council.
