Holland Park Improvements

The Council is planning to make improvements in Holland Park to the south terrace of Holland House and the adjacent cafe seating area. The improvements are intended to create a more appropriate setting for the Grade 1 listed Holland House by resurfacing the terrace area with hard landscaping, and to improve safety around the cafe area by realigning the service road that runs in front of the cafe towards the terrace and improve the layout of the outdoor seating area for the cafe.

We would like to obtain your feedback on the proposals by asking you to complete a short survey.  The closing date for completion of feedback forms is 31 July 2016.

Separate proposals are being drafted on improvements to toilet facilities in this area of the park but these do not form part of this consultation.  This consultation does not replace formal planning consultation as part of the statutory planning process.

Q1 The realignment of the service road in the park will improve safety around the cafe area, particularly when Opera Holland Park preparations and dismantling is underway.   Do you support the proposal to realign the service road?

Q2 A new layout and design for the cafe's outdoor seating area is proposed.  The seating area will no longer be separated from the cafe by the service road.  The new seating area will have two sections; one which is accessible to people with dogs and a separate area that is not accessible for people with dogs similar to the current provision. Please indicate which statement best reflects your view:
Q3 The Council is planning landscape improvements to the south terrace of Holland House to enhance its setting as a Grade 1 listed building.  The improvements will incorporate the use of natural materials which mirror the colour palette of Holland House in place of the artificial turf and gravel that is currently in place, addition of a water fountain and new gates overlooking the cafe outdoor seating area.
Strongly agree   Agree   Neither agree nor disagree   Disagree   Strongly disagree
Replacing the artificial turf and gravel on the south terrace with materials that are in keeping with the Grade 1 listed status of Holland House will improve its setting.

Inclusion of a gentle water feature/fountain on the south terrace that respects the Grade 1 listed building will enhance the terrace.

The addition of new gates that allows more of Holland House to be seen from the park is a good idea and will connect the House to its landscape setting within the park in a better way.

The addition of new gates to the south terrace adjacent to the cafe outdoor seating area will improve visibility of Holland House and will make this area feel less secluded.

The improvements to the south terrace provide a new asset in the park when Opera Holland Park is not in session.
Q4 Access to the south terrace will be improved by the addition of a gently sloping ramped path which will be suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs (near the Duchess of Bedford Gate entrance).  The bank supporting the ramp will be grassed.
Strongly agree   Agree   Neither agree nor disagree   Disagree   Strongly disagree
