What is it?
This scheme is for people who are already housing association or Council tenants and want to swap their property with another tenant. This could be because they want a larger or smaller property or wish to move to another area.
Who is eligible?
Most people with a social tenancy in their name who do not have any rent arrears or a history of antisocial behaviour. If you are unsure whether you are eligible, check with your landlord.
How it works
The Council and Kensington and Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation (KCTMO) have signed up to MoveMaker, a new home swap app and mobile website. You can download the app to your Apple or Android smart phone or tablet, or register online.
If you are currently a KCTMO tenant, MoveMaker is free to download and use and registration is quick and easy. Peabody, Viridian, Family Mosaic, Notting Hill Housing and Guinness Trust tenants can also use the scheme for free.
MoveMaker matches you to properties based on the number of bedrooms you need and only connects you to people with an interest in swapping homes with you. It also contains lots of information about the area such as proximity to local schools, hospitals and transport links.
MoveMaker has been developed by Viridian Housing, a housing association with properties across London, the Midlands and West Sussex. It has been designed using feedback from residents.
