If you are looking for school uniform support, we would first suggest contacting your child’s school to see if they have a uniform bank available.
Alternatively, the following charities may be able to support you if you meet their criteria. Please note that if you meet the criteria, you will often need to have a referral made on your behalf by a professional such as a Family Hub worker or social worker.
Information is correct of July 2025 and charities may close their applications at any time.
The Pocklington & Thomas Huggett Apprenticeship Aid Fund Trust
The Pocklington & Thomas Huggett Apprenticeship Aid Fund Trust can provide grants to families to purchase school uniforms for children under 18 (and over 18 if they young person is in training and a specific uniform/ workwear is required).
To be eligible your child must:
• be under the age of 18 years or with discretion of the Trustees, up to the age of 25 years in education or training.
• be born or birth registered within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (or whose parent or parents have been resident within the Borough for not less than 10 years).
• have a financial need (either the parents/carers/young person receive entitlements such as Housing Benefit, JSA, Universal Credit or other similar equivalents). Additionally, there is support available to those who meet the age criteria and are in the care of or under the supervision of the Royal Borough.
Campden charities (for families living in the old Parish of Kensington only)
Campden Charities is a local charity supporting people in financial need in Kensington.
To meet the conditions of the grant you must:
- Have been living in Kensington for at least two years
- be a British or European Union citizen or have Leave to Remain.
- Not be a homeowner
- Receive benefits or are in low-paid work.
Please note that our area of benefit only extends to the old Parish of Kensington.
For families who work/ or have worked in the textiles industry
If you're the parent or carer of a child under 18 and work (or have worked) in a fashion, textile or clothing related business and are in financial difficulty, the Fashion & Textile Children's Trust may be able to offer you support.
To be eligible you must have worked for an eligible UK fashion and textile employer for over one year in the last 9 years. This can include hight street clothing shops, textile manufacturers, laundries and laundrettes and soft furnishing companies. For families who are experiencing a crisis:
Chances for Children: Grant Criteria - Buttle UK To be eligible a child or young person must have recently been significantly impacted by one of the following crises:
- Physical or sexual abuse
- Emotional abuse or emotional neglect by parent/caregiver
- Domestic abuse
- Suffered violence, severe bullying, harassment or exploitation
- Estranged, deserted or alienated from both parents
- Has a parent, caregiver or sibling who is receiving end of life care
- Death of a parent, caregiver or sibling
- Experienced a sudden and traumatic life-changing incident
Buttle UK is unable to support where poverty, poor housing or homelessness or family separation is the main issue.
BBC Children in Need Emergency Essentials Programme managed by Family Fund Business Service:
The BBC Children in Need Emergency Essentials Programme supports children and young people in crisis. All applicants must be made by a registered referrer, and the programme has limited funding.
