*Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, the services we provide are limited. As things open up, we hope to continue the usual services in the community, but this is also dependent on how those services will be run. At present, The Learning Disabilities Resource Centre is open but with limited capacity.
The Learning Disabilities Resource Centre is a social services day service for adults with complex physical and learning disabilities.
The centre provides a person-centred service that supports individuals to access their own community, college and centre-based activities/experiences focused on:
- Rebound therapy
- Hydrotherapy sessions (physiotherapy in a heated swimming pool)
- Multisensory Room
- IT/Eye Gaze sessions (controlling a computer through eye movements)
- Travel training
- Support to college
- Access to local museums i.e. Natural History Museum, Science Museum etc.
- Volunteer opportunities (office based volunteer opportunities in the community)
The centre-based work focuses on the needs of the service users that attend our service, offering physiotherapy exercises, speech and language assessments, eating and drinking guidelines and individual timetables for all service users. We work in conjunction with the Health and Care Management Learning Disability Team.
