Kensington Book Club (SEN-friendly) @ Kensington Central Library
Actions

Join us at Kensington Book Club! SEN-friendly fun with stories, activities & speech support for all children & carers.
Kensington Book Club is an inclusive and welcoming space for all children and families. Our sessions are designed to support children’s communication and social skills in a fun, relaxed environment.
These sessions are designed and delivered by a qualified Speech and Language Therapist and focus not only on literacy but also essential communication and social skills such as:
- Turn taking
- Making choices
- Sentence building
- Requesting items
- Engaging with peers and adults
Supportive tools such as Makaton signs, visual aids, and multi-sensory materials help make the session accessible to everyone. We adjust activities based on individual communication styles and abilities, ensuring all children can participate fully.
An SEN teacher will also be present to assist with any additional support needs.
This book club is for:
- Children of all abilities and backgrounds
- Those working at an early developmental level (roughly under 6 years cognitive level)
- Families wanting a supportive and friendly space to encourage speech, language, and social skills
- Parents/carers looking for new ways to engage with their children through books and activities
No formal diagnosis or prior experience is necessary.
This club is run by a qualified Speech and Language Therapist through the Kensington Speech and Language Clinic CIC, dedicated to supporting families and children’s communication development.
