In the context of Notting Hill, Thomas Jones is unique, in that it is the only community school with a single form of entry. One advantage of this is that it frequently feels like a ‘big family’.
Exceptionally gentle and welcoming, younger pupils know Year 6 well and vice versa. All pupils are made to feel special. In this environment, positive, authentic relationships develop, which in turn support and nurture the well-being of each individual. Nursery and Reception are by far our most important cohorts, simply because this is where everything begins. Attending all assemblies, attired immaculately in the same garb as their older peers, they contribute much and are celebrated at every opportunity. Early Years practice is exceptional.
Nursery provision
The school offers nursery provision. Funded places available for eligible children.
Wraparound childcare / clubs information:
Breakfast club: Yes
Early Morning Club runs from 8am until the start of the school day every day during term time. Families are able to access this provision at a charge of £2.50 for the first child and £2.00 for any additional siblings. This includes the cost of a healthy breakfast and childcare for one hour.
After school club: Yes
Play Plus runs from 3.20 to 5.45pm every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during term time and incorporates elements of play alongside sport, cooking and craft. All pupils, including Nursery, are eligible to attend. Places can be booked in advance or on the day.
Clubs include both squad and generic development training for swimming, hockey, football, handball and cricket. There are also opportunities to take part in dance, French, arts and crafts, yoga and cookery. These ventures are open to different age groups and are led either by external specialists or by our own staff members. Pupils are actively encouraged to participate in clubs outside of the school day and suggestions for new ventures are welcomed and incorporated into future planning.
For some of the above, it is necessary to charge a fee in order to cover staffing costs and materials. These charges are periodically revisited to consider whether further reductions can be made or subsidies organised where appropriate. All enquiries regarding clubs should be made to [email protected].
