Making Communities Work and Grow (MCWG)

We’re a community organisation working mostly with young people from black and ethnic minority (BME) backgrounds in the London borough of Kensington and Chelsea, which has the second-highest percentage of Arabic-speaking residents in the UK.

We offer a range of activities from our centre in North Kensington:

  • Weekly youth clubs for boys and girls
  • Sports events and weekly training sessions (football, martial arts, keep-fit, circuit training)
  • Cookery classes and nutritional advice
  • Homework clubs for children aged 6-14 years
  • Supplementary Saturday school for children aged 5-14 years, providing National Curriculum support, Arabic language and Islamic studies
  • Employment skills support
  • Mother tongue counselling with mental health charity Mind
  • Mental health first aid courses for parents and young adults of 18+
  • Strengthening families, strengthening communities courses for parents
  • Violence prevention projects
  • Mother/daughter projects
