Ardagh Young Creatives x Swimdem & Aishni Rao @ the Design Museum

Have you ever thought about what goes into making a public space? Ever felt invited, or, on the other hand, not welcomed? Join us for a walk and workshop! You’ll learn about what goes into planning of public spaces like swimming pools, and have a chance to shape your perfect recreational space

The structure of the day will look like this:

Part 1: 11am - 12noon
You will explore the exhibition Splash: A Century of Swimming and Style

Part 2: 12noon - 1.30pm
We will travel from the Design Museum to the Kensington Leisure Centre, recording and mapping the building in various ways such as sound mapping and sensory mapping. (There will be a walking or public transport option. All parts are accessible)

Part 3: 1:30pm – 3.30pm
Back to the Design Museum! We will head back to the Design for a hands-on workshop; what barriers to access where there? How could the space be more welcoming? What would you design to solve these problems?

These workshops are open to young people who are currently underrepresented in the design and creative worlds especially: young people who are care experienced, young carers, those on free school meals or pupil premium, young people of colour, those with a disability or neurodivergence
