Welcome to My Childcare Setting
My name is Isis (affectionately known as Icy). I provide a warm, inclusive, and nurturing home-from-home environment where children feel safe, valued, and confident to explore and learn. Every child in my care is supported to develop at their own pace, building confidence, independence, and a love for learning.
My Approach to Learning
My practice is guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and informed by Development Matters, ensuring that each child is supported to make progress across all seven areas of learning through meaningful play and positive interactions.
I place a strong focus on the prime areas of learning:
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
These areas form the foundation for all future learning and development.
Children are encouraged to be:
- Curious and confident explorers
- Independent thinkers
- Active learners
I carefully observe each child to understand their individual needs, interests, and learning styles. I then use this knowledge to create engaging activities and experiences that support their development.
How learning happens in my setting
Learning in my setting is delivered through a balance of:
- Child-led play (where children follow their own interests)
- Adult-guided activities (where I gently extend learning and introduce new ideas)
This approach helps children to develop:
- Language and communication skills
- Creativity and imagination
- Problem-solving and critical thinking
- Understanding of the world around them
I provide a rich, enabling environment with hands-on experiences that encourage children to explore, experiment, and learn through play.
Outdoor Learning & Daily Experiences
Outdoor learning is an important part of our daily routine. Children have regular opportunities to:
- Explore nature
- Develop physical skills
- Build confidence and resilience
- Support their overall wellbeing
Activities are adapted for children of all ages and stages, ensuring every child is appropriately challenged and supported.
Supporting children of all ages
I care for children at different stages of development and tailor my approach to suit each age group:
- Babies are supported through sensory play, routines, and close nurturing interactions
- Toddlers are encouraged to explore, develop language, and build independence
- Older children are supported with school readiness skills, problem-solving, and confidence-building
Every activity is adapted to meet individual needs, ensuring all children feel included and supported.
My values in practice
My setting is built on strong values that are reflected in everything I do:
- Respect and Inclusion - every child and family is valued
- Kindness and Empathy - supporting positive relationships
- Safety and Wellbeing - creating a secure and caring environment
- Confidence and Independence - encouraging children to believe in themselves
I model positive behaviour and create an environment where children feel heard, respected, and supported.
Working in Partnership with Parents
I believe that strong partnerships with parents and carers are essential, I actively:
- Share regular updates about your child’s progress and experiences
- Work with you to support your child’s development and wellbeing
- Celebrate each child’s unique learning journey
Together, we ensure children are happy, confident, and ready for their next stage of education.
My philosophy & approach
I believe that childhood should be filled with curiosity, security, and joy. The early years are not just about learning skills, but about building confidence, forming relationships, and developing a strong sense of self.
My passion for childcare comes from seeing how meaningful those first experiences are. I aim to create an environment where children feel truly valued and listened to; where their interests are taken seriously, their voices are heard, and their individuality is celebrated.
I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every child is unique, and I take time to understand who they are, how they learn, and what inspires them. This allows me to support their development in a way that feels natural, engaging, and enjoyable.
Strong, trusting relationships are at the heart of everything I do. By building close connections with both children and their families, I’m able to provide consistent, supportive care that helps children feel secure and ready to explore the world around them.
My practice is guided by the EYFS framework, but brought to life through meaningful play, real-life experiences, and everyday interactions. Whether it’s through conversation, creative activities, or outdoor exploration, I focus on creating opportunities that support not just learning, but confidence, resilience, and a genuine love for discovering new things.
Ultimately, my goal is simple: to provide a safe, caring space where children can grow into happy, confident, and capable individuals, fully prepared for the next stage of their journey.
