The Metropolitan Police invites you to join our Central Youth Independent Advisory Group (CYIAG). You will have a direct role in shaping the London Race Action Plan (LRAP), and your involvement will help to influence culture change within the MPS. You will directly be involved in creating the solutions for change and provide advice on how these changes are communicated to young people in London.
About You:
We are looking for energetic and passionate young Londoners to be the voice of their peers and help deliver important changes through The Met’s London Race Action Plan. London is one of the most diverse cities in the UK and we aim to create an advisory group which reflects the diversity of the capital’s communities. We are especially keen to consider applications from young people of different faiths, from young women and girls, LGBT+, and those who are living with disability or neurodiversity. The group will represent Boroughs across London.
Your Role:
As a CYIAG member, you will participate in approximately six meetings per year to discuss vital issues around race, policing, and community relations. You will have the opportunity to share your insights and experiences. You will be working with Met Police leaders to help improve policing practices, build trust, bridge understanding and make a real difference for young people in London.
What You Will Gain:
This is a unique opportunity, which will develop transferable skills for life and are likely to include;
- Leadership & Speaking Skills – Strengthen your ability to speak up and promote change.
- Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking – Address real-world challenges in racial equity and policing.
- Professional Networking – Build connections with Met officers and other passionate young people passionate about positive change
- Relationship Building – Play a key role in fostering trust between young people and the police.
- Valuable experience – see first-hand how a large organisation works and how change is delivered.
Additional Perks:
- Refreshments provided at meeting.
- Some meetings will take place in central London. We will take care of reasonable public transport travel costs for attending.
