We are a small Church of England Nursery based in London's Portobello Road. We employ 7 qualified (to at least NVQ3) staff; some of whom have been with the nursery since their own children attended. All members of staff have been trained to level 3 in Safeguarding Children and all hold paediatric first aid certificates
We are a small cosy, nursery with 31 children on roll, so our adult to child ratio is very healthy indeed. Practitioners are responsible for between 3 and 6 key children each; this means your child's learning journey is personalised and tailored to suit their needs and interests. We follow the EYFS curriculum, with emphasis on language and social skills. We plan exciting activities for the children and track their progress using the Blossom Educational app. Via the app, we can send regular updates and photos directly to your phone, so you know what you little one is doing at nursery. In addition, we meet with parents on a termly basis to discuss progress; celebrate achievements and make sure your child is thriving both personally and cognitively. Our "Open Door" policy means that either the Head herself, or staff members are always available to sit down and talk with you whenever you need outside these more formal occasions.
Twice a week we hold Praise and Worship sessions where we sing songs of praise, read a bible story and finish with our nursery prayer. Our Christian ethos informs our every day life in that we respect each other and celebrate each others' way of life. We welcome all children of all faiths, ability, background and family income
Our nursery is wheelchair accessible and we adapt our environment so that all children can access our activities and resources. We have a dedicated SENDCo who ensures that extra support is provided for any child who requires it .We have access to a large hall for indoor games and activities and we take the older children to Ladbroke Square Gardens every day for some fresh air and exercise, while our smaller children have free access to our small private courtyard.
We open our big blue door at 9.00 and the morning session ends at 12.00 (for 2 year olds) and 12.15 for our older children. Some bring a packed lunch and stay until 1.00pm (Lunch Bunch) while others continue on until 3.00pm.
We forge close relationships with our children and their parents, and support them as much as we can. We love and really care for our families and that is evident as soon as you enter the nursery.
