Children and young people
Are you a child or a young person?
If something is worrying you or making you scared and you're not sure if it is abuse, it's important to talk to someone you trust and we can help.
What is safeguarding?
Safeguarding is a bit of a fancy way of saying “keeping children and young people safe”. Safeguarding is also about making sure children and young people get the best opportunities in life and that they:
- feel safe
- are happy
- are healthy
- have a home
- have an education
- have a support network
What is the Local Safeguarding Children Partnership?
The Local Safeguarding Children Partnership makes sure that all organisations work together to promote the safety of children and young people in Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster.
The Partnership is made up of very senior people from housing, social care, schools, education, the police, health and a few others. We check that all these people are thinking about whether or not children and young people are safe.
The Local Safeguarding Children Partnership is called the LSCP for short.
If you are worried about your safety or the safety of someone else, you can phone and speak to a social worker in your local council’s family services. They are there to listen to what you have to say and will work with other professionals to protect you from harm. Here are the details for contacting a social worker in your borough.
- Hammersmith & Fulham - firstname.lastname@example.org or tel: 020 8753 6600
- Kensington and Chelsea - email@example.com or tel: 020 7361 3013
- Westminster - firstname.lastname@example.org or tel: 020 7641 4000
In an emergency call the police on 999.
