As a result of the extensive building works being undertaken with a new Marlborough Primary school and planned redevelopment of the Clearings buildings, the Council has the opportunity to review its waste operations.

Subject to planning permission the existing Denyer Street facility will move to a smaller site across the road on the Wilshire Close estate. This new depot will be a base for the handcarts used for street cleaning. Large rubbish lorries will no longer be based at Denyer Street although they will collect bins from the site twice a week. As a result there should be less noise from the depot.

The proposals mean storage sheds currently on the site of the proposed new depot have to be moved and replaced by sheds elsewhere on the estate. No one will lose a shed as a result of the relocation of the depot.
