Social Cycling

Have you always wanted to learn to ride a bike? Want to brush up on your skills and learn to cycle on the road? If so, our social cycling groups are for you. With Bikeworks, all our cycling activities take place in friendly social groups so you can meet like-minded people from your area. It’s simply about cycling, being active and having fun. The sessions are free and on a first come first served basis with friendly instructors. Bring your own bike or borrow one of ours.

Our learn to cycle, improver sessions and cycling for wellbeing classes begin from the following locations and run from 10am to 12pm.

All Ability Cycling Club

Our drop-in all-ability cycling clubs are designed for people with learning, physical and/or sensory disabilities to enjoy cycling on a range of adapted bikes, including single/tandem tricycles, side-by-side cycles for two or more people, wheelchair platform cycles and go-kart style recumbent cycles.

Our all-ability clubs are a social and friendly place where you can meet the same people time after time. After being shown how to use the cycles by our volunteers and staff, attendees are free to cycle around the park or green space with their friends, family or carer.

The clubs run from Little Wormwood Scrubs on Fridays from 9.30am to 2.30pm and alternate Saturdays from 9.30am to 12.30pm. On Fridays at 1pm there is a guided ride around the local parks and quiet routes. Please contact [email protected] for more information.

Cycle Taxi

Bikeworks also offers a cycle taxi across Kensington and Chelsea. This side-by-side cycle with a difference is a completely free service allowing up to three passengers to enjoy gentle exercise and fresh air while carrying out journeys in their neighbourhood in a social group. Designed to support people who are socially isolated and/or with health conditions, those with restricted mobility or those with visual or sensory impairments, the taxi is easy to get on and off and can carry luggage such as shopping and walking aids. Passengers can choose whether to pedal or use with an electric battery and friendly pilot.

To find out more about the Cycle Taxi, or to make a booking, visit their website or call 020 8980 7998 (option five).

Dr Bike

If you’re already a competent cyclist but your bike needs a bit of love to get it running smoothly, get yourself over to a Dr Bike session, where a qualified mechanic will check over your bike and adjust it so it is safe to ride. Please check the website for upcoming dates.

Funded courses

Those looking to learn the skills to maintain their cycles themselves can book on to one of our beginners and intermediate maintenance courses. These are free of charge and run from our training hub on Maxilla Walk.
