Section 58 restrictions
Section 58 notices
A Section 58 is a legal notice which is served on all the statutory undertakers who carry out work in the borough. This includes companies such as:
- Thames Water
- British Telecom
- Virgin Media
- EDF Energy
- National Grid
The Section 58 prevents statutory undertakers from digging up the road for a period of between three to five years after the road has been resurfaced or reconstructed, unless the work is an emergency or needed to provide a new customer service.
