About Car Free Day
Local communities are provided with an incredible opportunity to reclaim their streets and experience their locality with fewer cars and reduced motor-related air and noise pollution. Car Free Day promotes the local community, where jobs and shopping areas are within walking distance, and shows people ways to travel that will benefit both their health and local environment. Street closures also provide a wonderful occasion for communities to get together in a car-free environment, where children can play safely, are less exposed to air pollution, and don’t have to worry about road safety risks from cars.
