Advice for scaffolders

Advice for scaffolders

We welcome professional tradesmen in Kensington and Chelsea and want your work to run smoothly.

While you are working in the borough, we ask you to be considerate to residents and other road users.

  • Make sure there is at least three metres of road space left for vehicles to pass your lorry when you are loading or unloading. If this is not possible, you will need to book a suspension or dispensation, unless we have agreed otherwise.
  • Only work during permitted construction site working hours which are 8am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday.
  • Keep noise to a minimum.
  • Make sure your remove or lock away your ladders and climbing aids when you finish for the day.

Read our full guide for the rules and best practise measures required when erecting and dismantling scaffolding.

If you are erecting scaffolding on the pavement or road, you must apply for a structures licence.
