The air conditioning units and associated timber enclosure by reason of their prominent location, design and materials are inappropriate and alien additions, which disrupt the roofline of the neighbouring properties of the premises, thereby causing harm to the building, the terrace of properties in which this property forms part and the Norland Conservation Area as a whole. The air conditioning units are also considered to be detrimental to the level of amenity for the surrounding residential properties and as such, this proposal is considered contrary to Policies of the Unitary Development Plan 2002, in particular, Policies CD27, CD40, CD50, CD44, CD45, CD51, CD52, CD57, CD61 and CD62.
