The Mayor of the Royal Borough, Cllr Marie-Therese Rossi, joined a host of local residents and councillors to celebrate with Hilda Keane who marked her 90th birthday on Saturday.
Mrs Hilda Keane, the longest standing resident on the Cremorne Estate and well-known locally for nearly 60 years celebrated her 90th birthday on Saturday with a party attended by family, friends, the Mayor of the Royal Borough, Cllr Marie-Therese Rossi and other local councillors to mark the day.
Hilda met her husband, Ernie in a local dance hall when he was posted to Vienna in 1946. Hilda came to Britain with her mother in 1948 and married Ernie and went on to be housekeeper to a number of local families, including Lady Annabel Goldsmith (mother of Zac Goldsmith MP). Hilda now runs bingo once a week and also volunteers for the memory clinic once a month.
Congratulating Hilda the Mayor said: “I am delighted to be here celebrating such a milestone birthday with Hilda. Both she and her husband have been key members of the local community for decades and it is only right that we gather today to remember all the great times there have been and look forward to many more to come.”
