Enterprise hub open for business

23 August 2018

Freston Road, North Kensington, is set to become a business enterprise zone after the launch of the Freston Road Hub on Friday 17 August. This building offers low-cost space to rent and office facilities and support to businesses, both start-ups and established, which are looking to develop and grow their operations.

The enterprise hub, which is located in Peabody’s Silchester development, already attracts an eclectic range of businesses including IT companies, a hat designer, health care trainers and accountants.

Sue Spiller, CEO of Sobus the community development charity which is managing the space, said: “We’re really keen to make sure the hub offers something special for local residents, and so have lots of special offers and discounted rates for local people. The hub offers great space for all kinds of businesses and has a lot to offer. We have recruited an amazing reception team from the area as we are really keen to offer flexible job opportunities to residents from W10.”

Cllr Ian Wason, Kensington and Chelsea’s Deputy Lead Member for Skills and Enterprise, said: “There are limited working spaces for residents wanting to start their own business in North Kensington. The hub will provide a mix of co-working, traditional office space and training rooms at affordable rates.

"Having started my own entrepreneurial career in a co-working space like this fifteen years ago, I know how important these types of premises are in improving the chances of business success and creating employment."

The Council secured a GLA grant of £110,000 to help fit out the centre, which offers hot desks and meeting rooms for hire.

IT consultant Derek White, of Banana It Solutions, which has space at the hub said: “As a local resident and formerly a member of a local residents’ association, I’ve been involved in the development of this space for the last four years. It’s fantastic to finally see it open and to now be involved as a small business, making use of this amazing facility. I love that I can come and go as I please, and have space to hold meetings, deliver training and grow my business.”
