Mayor Rossi leads borough’s Remembrance Sunday commemoration

14 November 2017

The people of Kensington and Chelsea united on Remembrance Sunday to commemorate the brave men and women from the area who have lost their lives on active service.

Mayor Cllr Marie-Therese Rossi joined councillors at the War Memorial on Kensington High Street to remember the fallen. She was accompanied by other civic leaders and members of the armed forces, both past and present, along with local representatives of community organisations.

The Deputy Mayor, Cllr Beinazir Lasharie led a second Act of Remembrance ceremony at the War Memorial in Sloane Square, which was followed by a Service of Remembrance in Holy Trinity Church.

Mayor, Cllr Marie-Therese Rossi, said: “Remembrance Sunday gives us the opportunity to contemplate and reflect on the sacrifices made by the courageous men and women from our borough who have served their country.

“This year’s commemoration is all the more important, as it marks the centenary of the creation of the British Army’s first all-female unit.”
