A thousand budding artists help keep our roads safe

25 January 2019

Staying safe and travelling actively are the key messages in the 2019 Road Safety and School Travel Calendar, with pictures from 46 school children.

The competition organised by the Kensington and Chelsea attracted over 1,100 entries from 27 schools across the borough.

Thomas’s Kensington School had the most entries with 162 while St Barnabas & St Philips, Lycee Francais, Bassett House, Queen’s Gate Junior, Park Walk and Barlby each had three winners scooping prizes.

Each month the calendar features four of the winning entries with messages which range from whimsical observations on the best way to travel to school to insightful advice.

The winners and their parents attended a prize-giving ceremony at Kensington Town Hall on Monday 21 January where the Mayor, Cllr Marie-Therese Rossi, congratulated the winners and said: “I am very impressed with selection of pictures we have seen today. It is not only an indication of the great talent so many of our school children have, but also shows a good understanding of the challenges in getting to school safely.”
