Go Golborne's third campaign, Sugar Smart Golborne, is all about making it easier for children to make healthy low-sugar choices about what they eat and drink.

We are focusing on sugar because children across the UK are eating three times more sugar than the maximum daily amount recommended by health experts. This is not good news as too much sugar can lead to tooth decay and a range of health problems including diabetes and obesity. The biggest source of sugar in children's diets is sugary drinks, followed by sugary snacks.

To help make it easier for children to make healthy choices we are encouraging local organisations and businesses across the Golborne area to consider how they can help and pledge to take action.  From schools and play groups to shops, cafes and community centres - everyone is playing a part!

Support for local organisations

We have developed a Sugar Smart toolkit that contains lots of fun sugar themed activity ideas and lesson plans for teachers. It also includes good practice guidelines and a checklist to help organisations identify ways that can be as Sugar Smart as possible.
