Discover a hidden stretch of coastal paradise in the heart of our concrete jungle.

The creators write: “The National Trust cares for ten per cent (or 775 miles) of the coastline of England, Wales and Northern Ireland – including the White Cliffs of Dover, Rhossili beach on Gower and the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland.  Millions of people visit these special places every year and help us for care for them, for everyone to enjoy. This year we’re celebrating 50 years of since the launch of the Neptune Coastline Campaign. Launched in 1965 Neptune has been backed by tens of thousands of people and has helped to fund the acquisition of 574 miles of coastline. In the South East alone we now look after the equivalent of one in every three miles of the Isle of Wight coastline.

We’re bringing our coastal celebrations to London. Join us at the Acklam Road urban beach to experience all the fun of the seaside. Think sunbathing, sandcastles, wind breakers, beach huts,  deckchairs, carousels, dunes, cut out scene photo ops, bunting, windmills, end-of-the pier attractions, and cabarets.

We’ll be working in partnership with InTRANSIT and the local community surrounding the site (aided by the Westway Trust). The on-site Portobello Pop-Up Cinema will host a run of sea related films, documentaries and live streams of the British coastline. The Regular Acklam Village Market will take on a seaside theme, collaborating with the Goldfinger Factory and InTRANSIT Festival”
